Recovery of Sami idols smuggled abroad
Antique metal idols were stolen from various ancient temples in Tamil Nadu were smuggled to foreign countries. On consequent of the strenuous efforts taken by idol wing Police officials by adopting legal formalities two Dwarabalagar stone idols one Sambandar metal idol and one child Sambandar metal idol were repatriated from the. Art Galleries of Ausralia. Similarly six metal idols namely (1)Natarajar (2) Nandhikeshwarar (3) Gangalamoorthi (4) Vishnu @ Varadharajaperumal (5) Sridevi @ parvathi (6) Sivan and Parvathi in a sigle beedam were repatriated from the Art Galleries of U.S.A. All the above 10 idols were brought to Tamil Nadu on 05.06.2022.
Of Which, on 06..06.2022 two Dwarabalagar stone idols were handed over to the Executive officer Arulmigu Moondreeswaramudayar temple Athalanallur Tenkasi District subsequently one Natatajar metal idol was handed over to the Assistant Commissioner Arulmigu Kailasanathar temple punnainallur Thanjavur belongs to Aranmanai Devasthanam Tanjavur. one Sambandar metal idol was handed over to the Executive officer Arulmigu Sayavaneshwarar temple. Sayavanam. Nagapattinam Distric and Sivan parvathi metal idol in a single beedam was handed over to on 8.6.22 to the Executive officer Arulmigu Vanmeekinathar temple. Dheebamalpuram Tanjavur Distric in the presence of Dr.Tr.Jayanth murali IPS DGP Dr. Tr.Dhinakaran IPS IG of police Tr.Rajaram and Tr. Malaisami Addl.Supdts of Police Idol wing CID Chennai.
Yesterday 17.06.2022 Dr.Tr.Jayanth Murali IPS. DGP handed over the Nandhikeshwarar and Gangalamoorthi metal idols belongs to Arulmigu Narasinganathar temple. Alwarkurichi Tenkasi Distric which were repatriated from Art Galleries of U.S.A to. Tr. Kanndasson Executive officer Arulmigu Narasinganather temple. Alwarkurichi Tenkasi Distric in the presence of Dr.Tr.Dinakaran IPS IG of police and Tr. Malaisamy Addl.Supdt of police Idol Wing CID Chennai.
One child Sambandhar metal antique idol repatriated from the Art Gallery of Australia Investigation is going on to find out from which temple the child sambandar metal idol had been stolen.
