Four Charged 80,000 For Possession Of Deer Meat In Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: The forest department imposed a fine of 80,000 on four people, who were caught cooking meat of a spotted deer at Anaikatti in Coimbatore district on Wednesday morning.They were identified as R Rajasekar of Chinna Thadagam, N Maruthan of Tholampalayam, S Periyathambi of Anaikatti and L Arjun.

Forest ranger S Palaniraja and team had received a tip off and had apprehended the four, who were cooking the meat of the three -year-old deer in an agricultural field in the wee hours of Wednesday. “Arjun and Maruthan were cooking the meat at the agricultural field belonging to Rajasekar. During the interrogation, the duo told us that the deer was killed by stray dogs and it was found in the field,” an official said.
