CHENNAI: Almost all deputy commissioner of police-level officers in Chennai have been transferred in the latest shuffle of
IPS officers
in
Tamil Nadu
. At least 16
IPS
officers have been posted in the Greater Chennai Police. Of the 49 transfers, nine were promotion.
Inspector-general of police (IGP) Sumit Sharan has been posted as the
IGP
of railways. IGP NK Senthamarai Kannan has been transferred and posted as the commissioner of police of Tirunelveli. IGP Najmal Hoda has been transferred and posted as the commissioner of police of Salem while IGP V Vanitha has been transferred and posted as the commissioner of police of Tirupur.
IGP Santhosh Kumar has been posted as the IGP of north zone in the existing vacancy. IGP PC Thenmozhi has been appointed as the additional commissioner of police of the Chennai city police. The officer had earlier held the post and she was transferred as the IGP of CB-CID during the state assembly elections.
IGP K Joshi Nirmal Kumar has been transferred and posted as the IGP of the CB-CID.
Five police officers have been promoted as IGP. DIG Amit Kumar Singh has been promoted as the IGP and he will continue in the
ministry of external affairs
(
MEA
) on deputation.
DIG Ashwin M Kotnis has been promoted as IGP and will continue at the cabinet secretariat.
