Madurai city traffic police to facilitate the free flow of traffic due to the proposed construction of pillars on Alagarkovil road near Melur road junction (outpost junction), the Alagarkovil road stretch from Alagarkovil road – Tallakulam Perumalkovil junction to Pandian hotel junction will undergo changes in traffic movement from 20.02.2022 (Sunday) onwards
The oneway traffic for Alagarkovil road – Tallakulam Perumalkovil junction to Pandian hotel junction will be changed to twoway (movement towards Pudur will be allowed).
The movement from Pandian hotel junction to Melur road junction (outpost junction) will be blocked and motorists have to take compulsory left to race. course road and right towards Court road (near Kakkan statue) and join the Alagarkovil road (at outpost junction).
The vehicles from Tamukkam junction proceeding towards Pudur and Alagar kovil, shall pass through Ghokale Road and take a right turn near Navaneethakrishnan Temple, then take a left turn at Tallakulam PerumalKovil Junction, proceed to Pudur/Alagarkovil via Pandian hotel junction.
The vehicles from Tamukkam junction proceeding towards KK Nagar arch/Melur road, shall pass through Ghokale Road and take a right turn near Navaneethakrishnan Temple, then take a left turn at Tallakulam Perumal Kovil Junction, proceed to Pandian hotel junction and turn right via Youth Hostel, Kakkan Statue junction and reach K.K. Nagar arch/Melur Road to proceed further;
The vehicles coming from Pudur/Alagarkovil to the left at Thamaraithotti (Lotus tank) junction and left at Pandian hotel junction via Youth Hostel, Kakkan Statue junction and take a right turn to reach Tallakulam, Tamukkam and Goripalayam via Corporation Office Road.
The vehicles coming from Melur Road/K.K. Nagar archproceeding towardsNatham/Pudur/Youth hostel shall pass through Kakkan Statue junction is diverted through Corporation Office Road and take a right turn at Periyar statue junction to reach Pandian Hotel junction. They will not take right on youth hostel road which will be one way from now on.
The vehicles coming from Iyer bungalow/Natham Road proceeding towards Goripalayam and K.K. Nagar arch is diverted at SP bungalow junction to reach lotus tank junction via Bharathiula street then turn right.
The vehicles coming from B.B kulam junction proceeding towards K.K. Nagar arch, Goripalayam is diverted at Union office junction to reach Thamaraithotti (Lotus tank) via SP bungalow, Bharathiula street.
Vehicles from Tamukkam can proceed towards Natham Road through Tallakulam, Gokhale Road.
The vehicles from Tamukkam proceeding to Pudur/Alagar kovil and K.K. Nagar arch/Melur Road are not permitted to take the route through Vishal De Mall.
Madurai City Traffic Police appeal to the general public and the commuters to extend their co-operation for the aforesaid arrangements of traffic.
