Inauguration Ceremony for Basic Training of 14th batch directly recruited Deputy Superintendents of Police.

Today on 29.09.25, Basic Training was commenced for 14th batch – 26 directly recruited Deputy Superintendents of Police (15 male and 11 female) at Tamil Nadu Police Academy (TNPA), Vandalur, Chennai. So far, the TNPA has trained 13 batches of 297 directly recruited Deputy Superintendents of Police.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Sandeep Rai Rathore, IPS, Director General of Police, Training, i/c Director, TNPA who delivered the keynote address. He emphasized the importance of dedication and integrity in the police service, urging the trainees to uphold the highest standards in their professional duties. He also emphasized the importance of eliminating gender-based discrimination in the work place.

Tmt. M.V.Jaya Gauri, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Training i/c. Additional Director, TNPA delivered special address outlining the facilities in Tamil Nadu Police Academy and the proposed training program.

The batch of 26 Deputy Superintendents of Police includes 17 Engineering Graduates, 05 Post Graduates and 04 Under Graduates. Amongst, 19 have prior working experience in various government departments, 02 have professional background in the private sector and the remaining 05 are embarking in their career for the first time .
The 52-week training program both Indoor & Outdoor is designed to equip the trainees with essential knowledge and skills to suit their roles. The indoor curriculum includes subjects viz. Law, Scientific investigation, Modern computerized policing, Internal security, Intelligence, Community policing, Leadership, Communication skills, Cyber Crime investigation and CCTNS operations. These sessions will be conducted by skilled faculty members of TNPA along with other experts and professionals.

In addition, the trainees will be meticulously trained in outdoor activities such as Drill, Weapon Handling, Karate, Yoga, Sports, Games, Swimming and Driving. A 10-day specialized training session in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Special Task Force (STF), which cover map reading, camp defence, navigation, mountain climbing in forest areas. The trainees will also gain field experience while participating in major Bandobust duties and security arrangements for VVIPs.

In continuance, the trainees would be sent to district practical training for 28 weeks, followed by 20-week phase II training at TNPA. During phase II training which predominantly concentrates on administration of Central and State Government departments in view of handling various cases, conducting departmental enquiries, etc.

On the occasion, Tr. T.P.Suresh Kumar, IPS, Deputy Director (Training), TNPA delivered the welcome address and Dr. T.Senthil Kumar, IPS, Deputy Director (Administration), TNPA delivered the vote of thanks.
