Accused Sentenced to undergo Life Imprisonment in a POCSO Act Case.
In a significant judgment delivered on 25th October, 2025, by the Special Court for POCSO Act., cases in Chengalpattu, sentenced one Samuvel, A/34, a resident of Ezhil Nagar, Kannagi Nagar, Chennai -97, to undergo life imprisonment for committed Aggravated Penetrative Sexual Assault of a minor girl.
The incident occurred on 06.10.2020, when the victim’s mother was absent from their house. The accused, Samuvel, A/34, indulged the minor girl and committed the Aggravated Penetrative Sexual Assault act.
Based on information of the mother of the victim, a case was registered at AWPS, Guindy in Cr.No.17/2020, of U/s 6,10 of the POCSO Act and 376 IPC., on 07.10.2020 at 21.30 hrs and taken up for investigation. Subsequently this case was transferred to AWPS, Semmenchery, for further follow up on point of jurisdiction.
During the course of investigation, Samuvel, A/34, S/o Sekar, Ezhil Nagar, Kannagi Nagar, Chennai-97, was arrested and sent to judicial custody. The Investigation was concluded promptly and final report was filed in the court against Samuvel, on 17.03.2021.
This case was taken up by the special court for the POCSO Act cases, Chengelpet, on 16.02.2021, as session case no. 38/2021. During the trial 10 witnesses were examined and 18 exhibits were marked on support of the prosecution. Following due legal. procedures, the court found Samuvel guilty and pronounced the following sentences:
Section 6(1) of POCSO Amendment Act 2019: Life Imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1000/-., in default to undergo simple imprisonment for 1 year.
Additionally, a compensation fund of Rs.5,00,000/- was awarded to the victim, as stipulated by the rules.
