Two Accused Sentenced to undergo 20 Years Imprisonment in a Rape & Robbery Case.
In a significant judgment delivered on 28th October, 2025, by the Hon’ble Chengalpattu Mahila Court, sentenced two accused 1) Arputharaj, A/29, and 2) Arun, A/31, residents of Purasaivakkam, Chennai-84, to undergo 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment for committing, Gang rape and robbery of jewellery from a women.
The incident occurred on 23.09.2022, when the accused visited the victim’s residence under the pretext of performing air conditioner repair work. Taking advantage of the situation, as the complainant. was alone at home, they forcibly committed gang rape, robbed 20-gram gold chain from the victim and criminally intimidated the victim.
Based on information of the victim, a case was registered at T14, Pallikaranai, PS in Cr.No.993/2022, of U/s 450, 342, 323, 354 A, 376 D, 392 & 506 (ii), IPC., on 23.09.2022 at about 23.35 hrs and taken up for investigation.
During the course of investigation, 1) Arputharaj, A/29, S/o Arokiyasamy, R.K. Puram, Purasaivakkam, Chennai-84 and 2) Arun, A/31, S/o Shanmugam, Ponniyamman Kovil Street, Purasaivakkam, Chennai-84 were arrested on 27.09.2022 & 02.10.2022 respectively and sent to judicial custody, still now they are in judicial custody.
The Investigation was concluded promptly and final report was filed in the court against 1) Arputharaj, A/29 and 2) Arun, A/31, on 30.12.2022.
This case was taken up by the Hon’ble Chengalpattu Mahila Court, as session case no. 26/2023. During the trial 27 witnesses were examined and 15 exhibits were marked on support of the prosecution. Following due legal procedures, the court found both accused 1) Arputharaj, A/29 and 2) Arun, A/31, were guilty and pronounced the following sentences:
