Operation Disarm which suppressed rowdies in Madurai
In order to control the activities of rowdy elements and to prevent revenge offenes, effetive drive against rowdyelements was carried out in the name ” Operation Disarm ” between 23.09.2021 and 28.09.21 in Madurai City. During the operation, activities of 1157 history sheeted rowdy elements were verified in their residences and hideout and 41 notorious rowdy elements were arrested under Arms Act and 49 deadly weapons i.e sword 20, Knives 24, and sickles 5 were seized from them and all of them were remanded to judicial custody.
Further during this year, security action under 107, 109, and 110 Cr.P.C were initiated against 1250 rowdy elements who were having criminal background and ensured their good behaviour. Out of them, 108 rowdy elements who violated bond conditions were detained . Further, 48 notorious rowdy elements were also detained under Goondas Act.
In continuance of the drive , Weaponsi.e., knives, sword and sickles manufctures and sellers functioning in Maurai City in each police station limits were identified, conducted a meeting with them and they have been instructed to maintain a register, collect details of the persons buying weapons such as their address mobile number and reason for purchase and record it in the register for referece They were also instructed to not to sale weapons to unknownpersons . They were also instructed to install CC TV CAMARAS, in their shops. workshops and to convey the information immediately to the police , if they come across any suspicious persons while they engaged in sale of weapons.
